Perhaps the most desirable aspect of Appalachian Hickory is its unique combination of strength, hardness, and toughness. It is considered to be an extremely durable wood that can withstand almost anything. However, it is extremely dense and very hard to work as well. In fact, even with the use of power tools, it is hard to sand, hard to nail, and hard to finish. Appalachian Hickory is indeed a challenge for any manufacturer. In truth, there are many manufacturers that are simply not qualified to produce products from this difficult specie. We only make engineered flooring from Appalachian Hickory using a special engineered platform with a 4mm sawn face. Using our system, we can produce this flooring up to 11’’ wide and guarantee it for life.
