Simple Steps to Maintain Your Wood Floors

  1. Clean with the Right Product
Use Murphy’s Oil Soap for regular cleaning. Avoid harsh chemicals like ammonia, powdered cleaners, or dishwashing detergents that can damage your floors.

  2. Prevent Dirt and Moisture
Place mats at entrances to stop dirt and moisture. Use slip-resistant rugs near sinks and refrigerators to catch spills and prevent discoloration.

  3. Sweep or Vacuum Weekly
Clean your floors at least once a week. Use a dust mop to remove fine particles that could scratch your wood floors.

  4. Protect from Heavy Furniture
Attach floor protectors to furniture to prevent indentations. When moving furniture, lift and carry it, use a dolly, or slide it on heavy-duty pads.

  5. Avoid Water Damage
Never mop with water. Wipe up spills immediately to prevent permanent damage or stains.

  6. Remove Stains Safely
Use a commercial wood floor cleaner or white vinegar on a soft cloth to remove water spots, grease, or food stains.

By following these six steps, you’ll keep your wood floors in great condition and extend their lifespan.
