Installation
We recommend the traditional nail-down installation method for most situations. However, you can nail down, glue down, or float our engineered wide plank floors. For engineered floors between 6″ and 10″ wide, we suggest the floating method. This approach is simple, easy, and effective, especially over radiant heat.
Before installation, lay out the boards on the floor to determine the best placement and overall look. This step allows your installer to match the color and grain of each board, enhancing the finished installation’s appearance and feel. Include some shorter boards in each floor layout. Use these boards to start or end rows, creating the Classic Random Length Pattern, which significantly enhances the floor’s beauty.
Laying materials out in advance ensures a more aesthetically pleasing result that other methods can’t achieve. When calculating the square footage needed, add 15% to account for cutting and fitting losses. Below, you’ll find our simple step-by-step instructions for properly installing our engineered floors using the recommended floating method.
